"DISPLAY’s second split tape of 2020 showcases the ethereal and club-cultivated works of Shayu & Cares.

DISPLAY is a sub-label of Symbols curated by Kid Smpl. The label aims to showcase long form single-track musical explorations. Guest artists are asked to create an original piece with a single constraint: a 10-15 minute run time.

On Shayu’s “The Lake Down There”, pin-point synth patterns and winding melodies constructed of the artists own voice form morphing pastoral hymns. The piece is a delicate float that’s both aesthetically distinct and multifaceted. A clean panorama of shadowy impressions.

The flip side finds Cares exploring mutant, sub-heavy sonics while slowing imploding into stark, ice-cold ambience. “Praying To Sponsor” is as much a bleak epic for the club as it is for zoned-out headphone meditations. A roller coaster of dynamics, the piece finishes of the release off in a blistering fashion."
